Together, we can build a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Jessica Wright Headshot

Are you ready for a positive change in our schools?

As a history teacher and mom of two with kids in Pasco schools- Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. She is deeply committed to being a true representative of the people, amplifying your concerns, and fighting for positive change. Jessica is loyal to Pasco families first, not any political party. She will ask the tough questions to make sure our tax dollars are spent on our families and in our classrooms. Jessica is not affiliated with any political party and will eliminate any political extremism.

Overcrowded classrooms lead to injuries, distractions, and burnt out staff.

To provide a world class education, we have to address when our facilities and planning fall short. We have more than 11,000 children in portable classrooms. Watch the video to learn more.

Reducing class sizes and increasing ESE support will lessen behavioral concerns. Our kids and staff deserve better. We must set them up for success!

Staff Retention

There is a shortage in every position of education and educators are leaving at record rates. Recognizing that staff are the heartbeat of our schools, Wright is committed to attracting and retaining the best people by advocating for reduced class sizes, competitive salaries, increased planning time, reduced workloads, and by creating a supportive environment.

With record high staff shortages, it’s difficult for families to get the support they need. We need to refocus how we address all behavioral concerns and reduced class sizes are one of the biggest factors in properly addressing behavioral issues. With reduced staff to student ratios we can ensure that teachers are able to give each student the attention they need.

Pizza and jeans days aren’t cutting it! Let's invest in our staff so they can invest in our kids!

Education Empowers

Parental involvement and literacy are the number one indicators of lifelong success. Today’s learners are tomorrow’s earners! Jessica is dedicated to increasing reading and math literacy rates across our county. It’s great that our graduation rate has increased, but it does not mean much if our kids cannot adequately read. Together we can prepare our children to be successful after graduation and in life. We also need to do everything we can to protect access to classroom libraries that provide enrichment for our students. We must remain steadfast in best educational practices and not allow our district to be swept up in extreme political ideologies.

Did you know that some of our students are assessed on alternate state standards? It's essential to ensure that they have the support and proper equipment they need to learn the skills to become independent adults and lifelong learners. As a mom, Jessica understands the importance of ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, receives the support they need to reach their individual potential. That's why she's committed to advocating for improved resources and assistance for our Exceptional Student Education (ESE) families. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach new heights and Jessica will fight tirelessly to make that a reality.

Book Restrictions

Over the last three years the state of Florida passed two laws that led to wide sweeping removals of books to be placed under review by approval committees. This became very difficult because the county only has two media specialists for 85K+ students. Pasco County School District removed all classroom libraries from K-12. Then they spent almost $3M to replace only K-5 classroom libraries.

As a school board member, Jessica proposes that we bring back media specialists on every campus to ensure content is age and developmentally appropriate while also ensuring that our students have access to books! How can we expect our students to be literate without access to reading material?

Additionally, Jessica also suggested to district staff that they offer teachers additional pay to scan their classroom titles into the online catalogue. This would have cost approximately $250K vs the $3M that was spent while secondary classrooms still do not have libraries.

Smooth Rides to Success

Getting our kids to and from school safely and efficiently is a top priority for Jessica. Improved transportation means less time on the bus and more time in the classroom. Our kids can no longer miss hours of school each day or come home late due to late buses! Our kids with disabilities are suffering the most every time their bus is canceled due to not having an available aid. Let's ensure that our children have a smooth ride to their dreams!

Healthy Minds,

Healthy Bodies

A healthy diet creates a healthy mind and it is the first step to addressing behavioral concerns that have increased in recent years. Wright is on a mission to revamp school lunch options, ensuring that our children have access to nutritious meals. By partnering with local farmers and advocating for fresh, wholesome choices, we can fuel our kids for greatness.

Jessica proposes the implementation of a garden at each school site with the help of hydroponics that are immune to the elements. There are ample grant opportunities for this and it can be infused in science, health, and agricultural classes.

Not only does this initiative promote healthy eating habits, but it also reduces costs by utilizing locally sourced ingredients in school meals. By fostering a connection to the food they eat and promoting sustainable practices, we can empower our students to make healthier choices and lead happier, more fulfilling lives.

Internet Safety & Cell Phones

In today's digital age, Jessica Wright recognizes the critical importance of internet safety, social media responsibility, and appropriate cell phone use. As a parent and educator, she advocates for empowering parents as the primary line of defense in safeguarding children online. This includes providing resources and education to help parents recognize and address online threats.

Jessica also emphasizes the value of incorporating more paper-based student work to enhance learning skills, memory, and recall, as well as to improve fine and gross motor skills. Additionally, paper-based assignments allow parents to see their child's work firsthand, facilitating greater involvement in their academic progress, and providing opportunities for supportive guidance.
